Jorge Camarotti was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He attended art school from the age of 14 and started off his career as a graphic designer. Four years ago he moved to Montreal, and has since become an important figure in the city’s art scene. While making frequent trips to both NYC and Paris, he’s collaborated with artists such as Feist, Seu Jorge, and most recently, Amon Tobin. In 2007 he began his career as a filmmaker with his first short film called Rising Son, making it as a finalist in a Canadian national film competition. Jorge is currently working on his first feature documentary called Viuvas da Seca (The Drought’s Brides/ Les veuves da sèchéresse), a film that will portray the live of women left behind by their husbands in the most arid places of Northeastern Brazil.
